Buzzer Beat

I’ve had some “encounters” with Buzzer Beat before. I mean, I’ve read it being mentioned every now and then, here and there. I just didn’t watch it right away because it’s Basketball related. I’m not a fan of the sport. I thought of watching it though, just not soon
So what made me watch it? I guess I’d say it was curiosity. I’ve always been pretty curious about it. And just having watched Kitagawa Keiko in LADY ~Saigo no Hanzai Profile~ I had the “itch” to watch another Kitagawa drama. Then I remembered Buzzer Beat.
I never thought I’d get hooked with a Basketball-related drama. It actually began with the comment of Shirakawa Riko (Kitagawa) on the sound of a basketball when dribbled. She said that it’s the sound of the “do” note. When she said that, I got reminded that I actually like the sound of a basketball when dribbled, even before.

I believe Shirakawa Riko and Kamiya Naoki (Yamashita Tomohisa) were amazing. I shipped and still ship this couple. I liked how they greeted each other, especially with a salute. Actually, I liked it so much when they do that. That simple mutual gesture made my heart go tachycardic, but I’m not complaining.

However, the scene that made me excited and giggly the most was the introduction of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. I love Baroque and one of my favourite symphonies are the Four Seasons.
I also liked the honesty of Riko. I mean, she’s not trying to be the “banal” cute type. I liked it that she yelled even though interrupting an important situation. If I saw what Riko saw, I’d also get pissed off. But that’s Riko. She’s her own. I liked it though. And as for the no-shh thing? I can so relate!

There was one thing that bothered me though, but it’s Kitagawa’s acting when playing violin. I don’t know if she does play violin in real life, but the first few episodes were just not selling. She moved a lot, which I don’t usually see among violinist. I mean, that kind of movement.
Although I was not totally buying Yamashita’s acting, except when he’s playing Basketball and cooking, I still liked Naoki. I liked him for Riko. Naoki was sensitive and unselfish. Who wouldn’t like such guy? I loved the pilot episode’s bus scene. Naoki was so gentleman there. I guess I got to appreciate that because it’s rare to see a gentleman nowadays. By the way, I’m so bothered with Naoki’s hair and Yamashita’s pectoralis major.
So individually, I liked each – Naoki and Riko.
The other character I liked was Riko’s friend, the flutist Ebina Mai (Kanjiya Shihori). But there was also a character I didn’t like. It was Nanami Natsuki (Aibu Saki). I didn’t like for the same reason Mai-chan had, somehow. I just don’t like girls trying to be too nice. Well, there are really nice girls but you can somehow tell which is real and not. Well, since I didn’t like Natsuki, I’d say Aibu was effective in her acting. I’ve already seen her before, in Zettai Kareshi.
