Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

-----------------------------------------------------

I finally had a date with Steve Rogers last Friday night. I’ve been looking forward to it since last Sunday but failed to secure the date because I was just, like what Cap said, “Too busy.”

It’s good to know that Captain America: The Winter Soldier tried to follow The Avengers‘ example, being witty. Somehow. It was important because the film, as I’ve realized or was reminded of, is sort of political. But if it wasn’t, there would be no Captain America in the first place.

Both Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) were having “career” identity crisis. No surprise there given what had unfolded before them. I kind of feel bad for Rogers though more than for Romanoff. All he ever wanted was do the right thing. But of course, it was equally sad for Romanoff.

I don’t know if this will be a spoiler, but as soon as the mask was ripped off, I knew who it was. And I felt sad for Cap. But I felt more sad that I couldn’t stay until the ending credits. I was with teh family and we just had to leave soon.

One of the things I’ve noticed about the film was its “classical” or ‘typical’ use of a type of background music when it comes to a particular moment. It was sort of old-school. But as I thought of that, I wondered if I’ve been too exposed with what’s contemporary that I kind of forgot to appreciate how things were done before.

If there’s one more thing that I noticed, it was how Evans dressed and was so like “Harvard Hottie.” Being paired with Johansson of course pulled the trigger.
